秋のボストン。ビジネスウーマンのリンジーは偶然から数学教師ベンと出会い、彼の優しさに魅了される。それから半年間、2人の恋は順調で、リンジーは彼との結婚を意識しだす。だが春の訪れとともにベンは変貌する。彼は少年時代からレッドソックスの熱狂的ファンで、大リーグの開幕後、生活の中心はレッドソックスの応援に移っていく。リンジーも最初は野球観戦に付き合うが、仕事の忙しさも影響し、彼についていけなくなり…！？
